  • Figure Caption: The ‘explosive’ intensification of Supertyphoon Hagibis on 12Z 6 Oct. to 12Z & Oct. 2019. Within 24h, Hagibis intensify by 100 kts (from 60 kts to 160kts), this is 3 times of the regular rapid intensification threshold. This extra-ordinary intensification is the current intensification rate record holder of the western North Pacific typhoons (Lin et al. BAMS 2021).
